How To Make Bubble Letters With Popsicle Sticks
Here is a great arts and crafts project for kids and grown-ups alike. Jumbo popsicle sticks have a wide, curved
shape which is ideal for making great looking, mixed-media bubble letters. So much fun!

MATERIALS:

This project is made with Jumbo popsicle or craft sticks, which are thinner than regular popsicle or craft sticks
and easier to cut into smaller pieces.
White glue
Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
Paper
Cardstock
Optional - stickers, sequins, pipecleaners, or anything else you can use to decorate the letters

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1.Work out the shape of a letter. Figure out what size and how many pieces you will need to build the
letter. Then cut a jumbo popsicle stick into smaller pieces to form the letter. Use as many sticks as you need.

Step 2. Sand the edges of the cut pieces so they are smooth.

Step 3. Draw the letter lightly with a pencil on a piece of heavy-weight white drawing paper or cardstock and
glue the sticks on top. You can overlap the edges of the sticks or place them edge-to-edge, your choice.

Step 4. Draw an outline all around the outside edge of the letter about 14/" or 1/2" away from the sticks all
the way around. Make the line straight, curvy or angular (see examples above). Draw another outline around
the first one. Draw as many additional outlines as you want in any shape that you want until the letter is big
and fat and bubbly.

Step 5. Color the outlines with magic markers, colored pencils or crayons (or all three). Use bright colors.

Step 6. Color the popsicle sticks with magic markers, crayons, colored pencils, or paint. Then glue on sequins,
small stickers or glitter to decorate the letter.

Step 7. Do all the letters in your name the same way. Cut the finished letters out.

Step 8. Glue your finished letters onto a large piece of oaktag or construction paper cut in the shape of a
cloud. Glue the cloud onto a larger piece of paper with the edge showing about 1/4" to accent the cloud.

Step 9. Decorate the cloud with pipe cleaners, bits of ribbon, wiggly eyes, sequins or glitter.

These bubble letters also work well as refrigerator magnets: complete the letters as described above, then
instead of glueing them onto a cloud shaped paper, attach a magnet to the back of each finished letter and
stick it on your fridge. If you don't have jumbo popsicle sticks, you can use other materials - twigs,
pipecleaners, toothpicks, dry macaroni, or even just rectangular strips of paper!

The inspiration for this project came from our lesson on how to draw bubble letters
here. The technique is not
exactly the same, but it is the same concept.

groundbreaking Subway Art brought graffiti to the world Graffiti (singular: graffito) is writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public
place.[1] Graffiti ranges from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings, and it has existed since ancient times, with examples dating back to Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and the Roman
Empire.[2] In modern times, paint (particularly spray paint) and marker pens have become the most commonly used graffiti materials. In most countries, marking or #graffiti,#printables,
#freecoloringpages property without the property owner's consent is considered defacement and vandalism, which is a punishable crime. Graffiti may also express underlying social and political
messages and a whole genre of artistic expression is based upon spray paint graffiti styles. Within hip hop culture, graffiti has evolved alongside hip hop music, b-boying, and other elements.[3]
Unrelated to hip-hop graffiti, gangs use their own form of graffiti to mark territory or to serve as an indicator of gang-related activities. Controversies that surround graffiti continue to create
disagreement amongst city officials, law enforcement, and writers who wish to display and appreciate work in public locations. There are many different types and styles of graffiti and it is a rapidly
developing art form whose value is highly contested and reviled by many authorities while also subject to protection, sometimes within the same jurisdiction, modern style graffiti, stencil graffiti
